Important Notices for SuperNovas

During Term One our focus was on getting to know each other, settling into class - and having fun!

Each week our Musical Theatre Class starts off with our Asteroids and SuperNovas Classes combining for physical and vocal warms ups and notices. This is an important time for us to connect with friends and get our voices, bodies and minds ready for class.

Throughout the year our SuperNovas class will work on four or five different songs, which they will ultimately present at our Musical Theatre End of Year Showcase performances on Saturday November 23rd 2024 (scroll down for more information about our 2024 Musical Theatre Showcase).

TERM ONE SONG
Thirteen - from the musical Thirteen, written by Jason Robert-Brown
This fantastic musical first hit the Broadway stage in 2008  and has the distinction of being the only Broadway musical in history to feature a cast and band entirely made up of young people - no adults!
The musical follows the story of 12 year old Evan Goldman. Reluctantly having to move from New York City to small-town Indiana, Evan grapples with his parents' divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school.
Thirteen is the rocky opening number of the show and provides loads of opportunity for our SuperNovas to have fun, sing solos and channel their inner angsty, puberty fuelled, rock star!

TERM TWO SONG
Temper Temper - from 'Mary Poppins' with music by George Stiles
Mary Poppins is set in London in the early 1900's. Mary is a magical nanny who visits the dysfunctional Banks family to take charge of raising the two children (Jane and Michael) of a busy banker and a dedicated suffragette. Mary employs her unique brand of lifestyle to improve the family's dynamic.
Temper, Temper comes from the original musical adaptation of Mary Poppins and appeared when Mary sends Jane and Michael to their room for misbehaving. The children's toys come to life and put the two children on trial for the most wanton crime of losing their tempers! The song was infamous for scaring the younger audience members and was later replaced with "Playing the Game", a much tamer version of the lesson!

Song lyrics and practice tracks for 'Stick It To The Man' and 'Temper Temper' can be downloaded from this webpage for practicing at home. Click on the song title listed on the right hand side of the page, under Resources (above the tutor pics) to access these.
