TERM TWO

Classes

During Term One our focus was on getting to know each other, settling into class - and having fun!

Each week we start our session with our Rising Stars and Shooting Stars Classes combining for vocal and physical warms ups. This is an important time for us to connect with friends and get our voices, bodies and minds ready for class.

Throughout the year our Rising Stars class will work on four different songs, which they will ultimately present at our Musical Theatre End of Year Showcase performances on Saturday November 23rd 2024 (scroll down for more information about our 2024 Musical Theatre Showcase).

TERM ONE SONG
A Spoonful Of Sugar - from 'Mary Poppins' with music by the Sherman Brothers
Classic Disney musical Mary Poppins is set in London in 1910. Mary is a magical nanny who visits the dysfunctional Banks family to take charge of raising the two children (Jane and Michael) of a busy banker and a dedicated suffragette.  Mary employs her unique brand of lifestyle to improve the family's dynamic. Mary and the children sing 'A Spoonful of Sugar' as they get to know each other while tidying up the nursery.

TERM TWO SONG
I'll Make a Man Out of You - from 'Mulan', written by Wilder
Our Term Two song comes from the 1998 Disney animated film Mulan.
"I'll Make a Man Out of You" was originally performed by American singer Donny Osmond who provided the singing voice of Captain Li Shang. This up-tempo military-style song incorporates both Eastern and Western musical styles and appears in the movie during a rigorous training montage in which Shang's young, inexperienced soldiers attempt to justify their worth - exploring hyper-masculinity. Although not as physically strong as those around her, Mulan, disguised as a man ultimately proves more competent than her male comrades.
