TERM ONE SONG: Les Poissons
From The Little Mermaid
With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater

First released in 1989 The Little Mermaid is a Disney animated musical film which is loosely based on the 1837 Danish fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. The Little Mermaid tells the story of a teenage mermaid princess named Ariel, who dreams of becoming human and falls in love with a human prince named Eric, which leads her to make a magic deal with the sea witch, Ursula, to become human and be with him.

Our song "Les Poissons" is sung by the French character Chef Louis. Translated, "les poissons" simply means "the fishes".  Sebastian the crab is trapped in a kitchen with a rather un-hinged Chef Louis who sings the song while preparing a seafood dinner for the newly human Ariel and Prince Eric.

TERM TWO SONG: Welcome to Wonderland
From Wonderland
With music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Jack Murphy

Wonderland is a contemporary version of the novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1871) by Lewis Carroll, and is set in New York City and focuses on writer Alice Cornwinkle and her 10-year-old daughter Chloe.
Alice and Chloe have just moved to Queens, New York. Chloe laments about the move and her family's demise. After hitting her head in the elevator Alice learns that her children's book manuscript has been rejected by the publishers saying it is too dark for children. She falls asleep, only to be woken by the White Rabbit and taken to Wonderland.
There, she encounters strange people and creatures in our song "Welcome to Wonderland".?

TERM THREE SONG: The Whole Being Dead Thing
From Beetlejuice The Musical
With music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect

Based on the 1988 film of the same name this dark comedy musical is full of mad cap fun!
Our SuperNovas song 'The Whole “Being Dead” Thing' features the main character, Beetlejuice as he introduces the show and himself to the audience.

SHOWCASE FINALE SONG: Happy
Written and performed by Pharrell Williams

Although it was released well over 10 years ago, most of our students, even including the  youngest of them are familiar with this song, due to its inclusion on the  Despicable Me 2 animated movie sound track.
'Happy' is about choosing happiness and resilience in the face of adversity, encouraging us find joy within ourselves and not let negativity define our mood, even when faced with bad news.
It's a a fun, upbeat song and a reminder of the power of positivity and the potential for joy in everyday life.
