Important Notices for Starlets

Throughout the year our Starlets class will work on several different songs that they will ultimately present at our Musical Theatre End of Year Showcase performances towards the end of this term, on Saturday 22 November 2025 (scroll down for more information about our 2025 Musical Theatre Showcase).

TERM ONE SONG: Let It Go
From Frozen, the Musical
with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez

Based on the Disney 2013 animated film Frozen, the story centers on the relationship between two sisters who are princesses, Elsa and Anna. Elsa has magical powers to freeze objects and people, which she does not know how to control.  Our song "Let It Go" occurs when Queen Elsa inadvertently causes the kingdom to become frozen in an eternal winter and flees her kingdom. Up in the mountains and away from the townspeople, Elsa realizes that she no longer needs to hide her ability and rejoices in being able to use her power freely.

TERM TWO SONG: Nowhere To Go But Up
From Mary Poppins Returns
With music Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman

Mary Poppins Returns is an American fantasy film released in 2018 a sequel to the 1964 film Mary Poppins.
Set in London during the Great Depression, the film sees Mary Poppins, the former nanny of Jane and Michael Banks, return to them in the wake of the death of Michael's wife.
Our song "Nowhere to Go But Up" is sung by The Balloon Lady, Michael Banks, Jane Banks, and Jack at the end of the film where Mary, the children, and everyone from Cherry Tree Lane have fun with balloons.

TERM THREE SONG: A Little Bit of You
From Frozen - The Broadway Musical
With music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez

This term our Sparklers and Starlets classes are having fun working together on a combined class number!
"A Little Bit of You" is taken from the 2018 stage musical adaption of Disney's 2013 hit animated movie Frozen. The story of Frozen centers on the relationship between the two young princess sisters, Elsa and Anna. Elsa has magical powers to create snow and ice, which she does not know how to control. It's a story that celebrates staying true to ourselves and to our friends and whanau. Ultimately this dedication between the two sisters saves the day.
In the musical our song is sung by the young Elsa and Anna, as Elsa entertains her little sister with her ice powers.

SHOWCASE FINALE SONG: Happy
Written and performed by Pharrell Williams

Although it was released well over 10 years ago, most of our students, even including the  youngest of them are familiar with this song, due to its inclusion on the  Despicable Me 2 animated movie sound track.
'Happy' is about choosing happiness and resilience in the face of adversity, encouraging us find joy within ourselves and not let negativity define our mood, even when faced with bad news.
It's a a fun, upbeat song and a reminder of the power of positivity and the potential for joy in everyday life.
