Simone Ashton

Simone became involved with Stage Door back in 2015 when her 3 wee men started Stage Door Musical Theatre Classes & has been sprinkling glitter around ever since! Simone is involved in all areas at Stage Door, but as our costume lady extraordinaire, she can usually be found hidden away deep in our wardrobe storeroom or beavering away at her sewing machine.

Simone has a background in Production Design for both theatre and film and has strong ties to the establishment of BOP Films within the region. Most recently she worked on NZ films Z-Nail Gang and The Breaker Uppers and was Production Manager for Theatre Whakatane’s seasons of Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Shop of Horrors. She loves all things design and spends many hours in the Wardrobe department and workshop of Theatre Whakatane.

Simone and her husband are the owner/operators of ITM Whakatane. Between running the business, working at Film BOP and Stage Door, and raising her 3 young boys, downtime is a precious luxury for Simone! When it does happen, she loves nothing more than reading books or scripts and hanging out with her menfolk.
